After installing the latest generation adiponitrile manufacturing technology, Butachimie has restarted its facilities
Chalampé, December 30, 2019 - In accordance with the schedule communicated (PR of 25/07/2019), Butachimie’s facilities are again producing adiponitrile (ADN) at the Chalampé site after a maintenance shutdown lasting two months.
During that time, Butachimie installed INVISTA’s most advanced ADN production technology, which reduces energy consumption and increases the reliability of the process compared to existing technologies. This 250M€ investment will strengthen Butachimie’s global leadership in ADN production. Butachimie is owned 50 percent by INVISTA and 50 percent by Solvay.
After a controlled restart phase, we will gradually ramp-up the facilities. After the retrofit project is complete, Butachimie anticipates an approximately 20 percent increase in ADN production capacity.
This project was carried out with the collaboration of many participants - including the ADN technology owner, INVISTA; Butachimie staff and subcontracting companies - and with an unwavering commitment to safety and environmental excellence.
