Butachimie, a crossroads of excellence and sustainability
Butachimie is a key player in the production of intermediates of polymers for nylon. Thanks to the process improvements developed by our partners INVISTA and BASF, we make the world’s highest-quality Adiponitrile (ADN) and Hexamethylenediamine (HMD). We owe our long-lasting success to a healthy balance between independence and our ties to our two Partners.
Butachimie, a flourishing joint venture
Butachimie was originally formed by a partnership established in 1974 between Du Pont de Nemours and Rhône-Poulenc, two players at the forefront of the chemical industry. Since the beginning, we have guaranteed continual production and a reliable supply of ADN, a key intermediate in the production of nylon. Since 1992, our mission has included the production and supply of HMD.
Assuring the safety and security of people and the facilities, managing environmental responsibilities, optimizing energy efficiency —a process of continual improvement involving all our employees is the key. Day in and day out we commit to these core company values to be the model of sustainability.
The joint venture, renewed in 2014 for another 99 years, is recognition of our quality, excellence and reliability.
