Butachimie approaches its planned maintenance turnaround and deployment of latest-generation ADN technology
Chalampé, July 25, 2019 - Butachimie, production site for key intermediates in the nylon 6,6 value chain, adiponitrile (ADN) and hexamethylenediamine (HMD), will conduct its planned maintenance turnaround at the site in Chalampé, France, from late September to December 2019.
This turnaround will enable Butachimie to perform preventive maintenance and inspection work to comply with regulatory requirements and implement investment projects that aim at enhancing competitiveness, safety and environmental performance in the long term.
The most significant investment that will be completed during this turnaround is the project to install INVISTA’s most advanced ADN production technology at the Butachimie facility, a 50/50 joint venture between INVISTA and Solvay. This project, a 250M€ investment made by the two owners, will strengthen Butachimie’s global leadership in ADN production.
This technology brings improved product yields, reduced energy consumption, lower greenhouse gas emissions, enhanced process stability and reduced capital intensity, compared to existing technologies.
More than 2,500 personnel will be on site to complete the turnaround and retrofit project.
